GERARDO “JERRY” MARTINEZ WESLACO – Gerardo “Jerry” Martinez, 44, died Tuesday, October 07, 2014, in Elsa. He is preceded in death by a niece, Christina M. Ramos. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Mae Yvonne; two sons, Joey and Jerry Jr. (Laura); four daughters, Leah Ann, Roxanne Yvonne (Gilberto) Hernandez, Michaele Anyah, and Bethsaida Ruth, all of Weslaco; three grandchildren Isaiah Cash, Elijah James and Mollie Mae; four brothers, Jose M. (Marivel) Martinez, Porfirio (Edelmira) Martinez, both of Edinburg, Roberto R. (Alejandra) Martinez of San Antonio, Jesus (Noemi) Martinez of La Blanca; two sisters, Mary (Freddy) Prado of McAllen, and Sylvia (Orlando) Quiroga of Austin; mother, Damiana Martinez; father, Porfirio Martinez. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 8, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m., followed by Rosary on October 9, 2014 at 7:00pm, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. May your spirit rejoice in freedom from the fears that gripped so tight. May you find the peace you searched for as you wandered, lost, during the last days of your life. May your tortured mind be clear and calm and your tender heart be warm. May you have no need for strength now. May there never be another storm. May the music of the angels be the sweet sound that you hear as you’re rocked in Heaven’s cradle. May you never shed another tear.
