Irene “Nene” Martinez PHARR – Irene “Nene” Martinez, 61, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She was born in Pharr, and had lived in Pharr most of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Victoriano and Josefina Martinez; and a brother, Ricardo Martinez. Irene is survived by 12 siblings, Victor (Martha) Martinez, Patricia (Omar) Mendoza, both of Edinburg, Ida Martinez, of New Braunfels, TX, Irma (Raul) Rocha, of San Juan, Robert (Liz) Martinez, Rebecca (Carlos) Almanza, Raul (Sandra) Martinez, Ruben (Letty) Martinez, Rodrigo Martinez, Mary (Rudy Solis) Martinez, Rosie (Mike) Ayala, all of Pharr, and Eddie (Yolanda) Martinez, of Alamo; and 90 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today March 9, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon, Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
