Josue L. Martinez Sr.

REV. JOSUE L. MARTINEZ, SR. ALAMO – Rev. Josue L. Martinez, Sr., 82, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at McAllen Medical Center. Born in Mercedes, Rev. Martinez had lived in Alamo all of his life where he pastored at Iglesia Gethsemani for 17 years. He traveled to many places, including the Holy land in Jerusalem and many towns in Mexico to do missionary work, which he enjoyed with all his heart. Rev. Martinez is survived by his wife, Basilia S. Martinez, of Alamo; four daughters, Maria Isabel (Oscar) Rodriguez, Esmerelda M. Concha, both of Donna, Norma (Juan) Sanchez and Criselda Martinez, both of Alamo; five sons, Noel (Rosa) Martinez, of Donna, Josue (Reyna) Martinez Jr., of Austin, Cresencio (Connie) Martinez, Roel Martinez, both of Alamo, and Rolando (Lydia) Martinez of Edinburg; 33 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marcos Cano, of Alamo; and a sister, Victoria Gonzalez, of San Juan. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, June 2, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday June 3, 2013, at Iglesia Santa Pentecostes Gethsemani in Alamo. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
