SAN JUAN - Julia R. Martinez, 80, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Hidalgo, Mrs. Martinez had lived in San Juan most of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan A. Martinez; a son, Juan Manuel Martinez; two sisters, Anita Franz and Hortencia Uresti; and a grandson, Jose Acosta, Jr.
Mrs. Martinez is survived by 13 children, Leticia Rodriguez of Everson, Washington, Martin Martinez, Ester M. Soto, both of San Juan, Norma (Rick) Ryan of Yakima, Washington, Noelia M. (Albino) Reyes of Mercedes, Juan (Mague) Martinez, Jr. of Lynden, Washington, Francisco Martinez of Edinburg, Minerva (Juan) Valdez of Mt. Vernon, Washington, Eduardo (Esmeralda) Martinez of Pharr, Juanita (Manuel) Silva, Jose (Rosa) Vargas, Jr., Elena (Eleazar) Vela and Dora (Javier) Valdez, all of Hidalgo; a sister, Bertha Humphreys of Weslaco; a brother, Ausencio Rocha, Jr. of Palm Springs, California; 28 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, today, March 11, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
