PHARR - Manuel Martinez, 83, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Michoacan, Mexico, Mr. Martinez was formerly of McAllen and had lived in Pharr since 1994.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Martinez; a daughter, Martha Rodriguez; and a son-in-law, Noe Gonzalez.
Mr. Martinez is survived by six children, Blanca Fuentes of Edinburg, Hector (Hortencia) Martinez of McAllen, Beatrice Gonzalez of Alamo, Sylvia (Ramiro) Resendez of Harlingen, Luis Martin Martinez of Donna and Vanessa (Miguel) Duran of Pharr; 24 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Francisco Martinez, Jaime Martinez, Jose Martinez; and two sisters, Maria Elena Martinez and Gloria Martinez, all of Mexico.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, November 28, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 11 am, Monday, November 29, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Miguel A. Duran, Jr., Austin R. Duran, Eric Resendez, Phillip Resendez, Marcus Resendez and Daniel Resendez.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
