MARTHA L. MARTINEZ EDINBURG - Martha L. Martinez, 45, went to be with our Lord Saturday, May 19, 2012, at her residence in Edinburg. Formerly of Pharr, Mrs. Martinez had lived in Edinburg for 15 years. She was a teacher at Edinburg High School. She was passionate about teaching and she loved to travel as well as spend time with her beloved family. Martha's joy was being a mother and wife. Martha is preceded in death by her sister, Laurie Alanis. She is survived by her husband, Rafael Martinez of Edinburg; a young son and daughter; parents, Gonzalo and Elva Alanis of Pharr; eight siblings, Isabel (Martin) Rodriguez of Edinburg, Rosa (Rafael) Martinez, Jessie (Orie) Alanis, Javier (Janie) Alanis, Ana Alanis, Norma Alanis, all of Pharr, Maria Elena (Dario) Martinez of Edinburg, and Hector Alanis of San Antonio, TX. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, May 20, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
