MARTHA “MARTY” MARTINEZ
EDINBURG – Martha “Marty” Martinez, 72, went with our Lord on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Amara Hospice Inpatient Facility in Edinburg.
Born in Mercedes, she had lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Marty was employed by Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District where she began her career at Robert E. Lee Elementary and worked at Sam Houston Elementary, Sacred Heart School, Escandon Elementary and lastly, Barrientes Middle School. She retired in 2008 after 28 years of service.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Santos and Altagracia Martinez.
Marty is survived by a daughter, Yvonne Garcia; four grandchildren, Jaime Raul Lozano, Gracye Ramos, Alfredo “Freddy” Ramos, Jasmyne Ramos; a sister, Maria Elva Garza; a niece, Yvette (Isidro Jr.) Sepulveda; grandnephews, Isidro Sepulveda III, Isai Sepulveda; and grandniece, Iliana Sepulveda.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
