PETRA G. MARTINEZ EDINBURG - Petra G. Martinez, 88, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Retama Manor Nursing Home in Edinburg. Born in San Juan, Mrs. Martinez lived in Edinburg all of her life. Petra is preceded in death by her husband, Esiquiel Martinez. She is survived by four daughters, Lydia M. (Felipe) Barrientes of Edinburg, Elida (Frank) Moreno of McAllen, Janie (Juan) Garza, and Mary Martinez, both of Edinburg; two grandsons; four granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren. A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today, June 30, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Pallbearers will be: Danny Garza, Joe Saenz, Benito Guerra, III, Eddie Castro, Joel Gallardo, Michael J. Garza. Honorary pallbearer will be Javier Alonzo, Jr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
