RUBEN C. MARTINEZ ALAMO – Ruben C. Martinez, 80, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Life Care Hospital in McAllen. Born in San Juan, he had lived in Alamo most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cristobal and Nicolasa Martinez; four sisters, Julia Torres, Herminia Castro, Rafaela Singleterry, and Santos Arriaga; a brother, Pedro Martinez. Ruben is survived by his wife, Macarena G. Martinez of Alamo; three sons, Hipolito (Dalila) Martinez, Jose Angel Martinez, and Jaime (Elia) Martinez, all of Alamo; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Jonathan, Sarah, Victoria, Ruby, CJ, Samuel and Elizabeth; one great-grandchild, Isaac Mathew; three sisters, Emma Marmolejo of Lubbock,Texas, Ofelia Trevino of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Rebecca Ordonez of Chicago Heights, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, April 11, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
