ROSENDO MEJIA EDINBURG — Rosendo Mejia, 88, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his residence in Edinburg. Mr. Mejia was born in San Manuel and had lived in Edinburg all of his life. He was a Member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Rosendo served proudly in WWII as a Private First Class from September 16, 1945 to February 3, 1947. He was awarded the Army Occupation Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Mejia was employed by John Deere for over 33 years as a truck driver. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mateo and Antonia Pompa; three brothers, Benjamin, Gilberto and Leonel; one sister, Leonor. Rosendo is survived by his wife, Herminia Mejia of Edinburg; two sons, Roel (Martha) Mejia and Rolando (Nilda) Mejia, both of Edinburg; one daughter, Elda (Hector) Bazan of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Amanda, Mario, Rolando, Jr., Ricardo, Michael, Veronica; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Noah; one brother, Armin (Lupita) Mejia of Donna; one sister, Carmen Gorena of Edinburg; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary today, November 27, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Military honors will be conducted by Sgt. Benito Alaniz VFW Post 7473 of Elsa. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
