Melissa Rodriguez

PHARR- Melissa Rodriguez, 61, beloved wife, devoted mother, sister, and aunt peacefully and surrounded by her loving family entered eternal rest Monday, August, 26, 2024 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. 

Forever remembered as guiding light and the heart of her family’s home, she will be profoundly missed. Melissa was known for her beautiful smile and laughter. Her children made up the entirety of her world, and although she is gone, the boundless and enduring love she bestowed on them will undoubtedly stay with them eternally. 

While difficult to let go, there is comfort knowing there is a perpetual light shining upon her as she now rests in the arms of our Lord. 

Born in Alma, Michigan and raised in Pharr, Texas. Melissa lived in Pharr all her life and was faithful patron of the Catholic Church. Melissa worked twenty-five years proudly with PSJA ISD as a parent liaison, front office clerk, and para-professional.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Rolando Rodriguez of thirty-three years; three treasured children, Paula Renee, Rolando Jr., and Samantha Nicole; her dearest sister Marylou (Abelardo) Medrano; cherished nieces, Christina Ann Najera, Yvette Marie Diaz, and a host of other nieces and nephews. 

Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, Manuela Serna Martinez; grandparents, Ramon and Refugia Serna; aunts, Alicia and Criselda Serna; siblings, Estela Martinez, Jesus Munoz, Bobby Martinez, and Danny Martinez.

A life so beautifully lived will be remembered fondly and endlessly. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 5 to 8:00 p.m., with a 6:00 p.m. rosary. Funeral service will take place on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan, Texas.
