SAN JUAN - Antonio Mendez, 83, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at McAllen Medical Center.
Mr. Mendez was born in Cd. Victoria, Tamps., Mexico and had lived in San Juan most of his life.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Jesus and Manuel Mendez; a sister, Maria del Refugio Mendez.
Mr. Mendez is survived by his wife, Antonia Mendez, of San Juan; three daughters, Maria Silvia (Manuel) Aguirre, of San Juan, Maria Florencia (Jose Alfredo) Rangel, of Reynosa, Claudia M. (Hector) Gonzalez, of La Joya; eight grandchildren, Victor, Yolanda, Teresa, Alfredo Antonio, Victoria, Sam and Alessandra; eight great-grandchildren, Rosario, Victor Jr., Vyolet, Sebastian, Sophia, Carlos, Frida, Alfredo Antonio Jr.; and a sister, Alicia San Miguel.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, May 8, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Monday, May 9, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Our father will forever be remembered for his strong work ethic; for his enduring love for his wife, children and grandchildren; as well as his strength and courage.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
