EDNA GALLARDO MENDOZA EDINBURG — Edna Gallardo Mendoza, 76, died Monday, September 22, 2014, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Mrs. Mendoza was born in Rio Grande City and had lived in Edinburg most of her life. Edna dedicated 42 years of her life to the Edinburg Independent School District. She loved music, dancing, and her grandchildren. Edna was a very active person throughout all her life. She was a great friend and mother to everyone, and always had a positive attitude. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Teresa Gallardo. Edna is survived by her husband, Eleazar Mendoza, Sr.; two sons, Eleazar (Maria) Mendoza, Jr. and Eduardo Mendoza; three daughters, Evangelina Sanchez, Elda Mendoza, Elizabeth Gomez, all of Edinburg; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alberto Gallardo, Jr. of Rio Grande City, Lazaro Gallardo, Isabel "Chavel" Gallardo, both of Mission; six sisters, Olga Garcia of Rio Grande City, Rosario Garza of Edinburg, Norma Rouse of Savannah, GA, Emily Garza of Edinburg, Cynthia Gonzalez, Sandra Garcia, both of Rio Grande City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, September 24, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
