SAN JUAN – Sofia S. Mendoza, 95, went home to our Lord Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in San Juan.
Born in Poth, TX, Mrs. Mendoza had lived in San Juan most of her life.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Guillermo Mendoza; her parents, Filemon Santos and Julia Sanchez; a sister, Simona S. Sanchez; and a daughter-in-law, Herlinda Mendoza.
Mrs. Mendoza is survived by her nine children, Erminia (Genaro) Cerda of Pharr, Guillermo (Marciana) Mendoza Jr., Juan Leonardo Mendoza, both of San Juan, Francisco A. (Matilde) Mendoza of Willard, OH, Irene (Benito) Quesada of Pharr, Maria Connolly of Cottonwood, AZ, Estela Cavazos of McAllen, Margarita (Arturo) Morales of Phoenix, AZ, and Rebecca (Reynaldo) Cano of San Juan; 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Inocencia Gonzalez of Pharr; numerous nieces, nephews; and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Monday, June 21, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
