DAVID MERCADO
EDINBURG – David Mercado, 73, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Mission he had lived in Edinburg most of his life. Mr. Mercado was a US Army Veteran. He was a Truck Driver and enjoyed his job immensely. Mr. Mercado enjoyed the outdoors and especially hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecilio and Adelina Mercado; three brothers, Daniel Mercado, Anselmo Mercado and Reynaldo Navarro.
Mr. Mercado is survived by his wife, Audelia Mercado, of Edinburg; two sons, David (Teresa) Mercado Jr. and Carlos (Nelda) Mercado, both of Edinburg; two daughters, Dalia (Jesse) Flores, of San Juan and Camelia (Armando) Ayala, of Edinburg; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Manuel Mercado, of Edinburg and Danny Navarro, of Mission; three sisters, Mary Alice N. Saldana, of New Orleans, Louisiana, Adela Garcia, of San Antonio, Texas and Esther Tabor, of Mission.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, November 22, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 am Monday, November 23, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Pallbearers will be Manuel Mercado, Daniel Navarro, Jose Cuellar, Guadalupe Garza, Robert Lee Rodriguez and Bill Trevino. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
