JOEL MONCIVAIS
ALAMO — Joel Moncivais, 49, died Thursday, January 14, 2016, at University Medical Center in El Paso.
Born in San Juan, he had lived in Alamo most of his life. Joel was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Afghanistan and Iraq.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leonel Moncivais.
Mr. Moncivais is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Moncivais; three children, Esperanza (Cesar) Ortiz, Cesilia Iruegas, Joel Moncivais Jr.; six grandchildren, Alexis Marie and Ricky Nunez, Alyssa and Victoria Ortiz, Luis Coronado, Alexander “Chico” Iruegas; his mother, Gregoria Moncivais, all of Alamo; and seven siblings, Leonel (Helen) Moncivais Jr., of Alamo, Roel Moncivais, of McAllen, Aida M. (Raul) Cavazos, of Humble, Samuel (Paola) Moncivais, of Georgia, Elvia M. (Rabih) El-Mahmoud, Noemi M. (Wiston) Moncivais, both of Houston and Israel (Erika) Moncivais, of San Juan.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Primera Iglesia Bautista de Alamo, 401 U.S. Business 83, Alamo, Texas.
Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
