MANUEL MONTEMAYOR

CEDAR PARK/IRVING - Manuel Montemayor, 95, passed away early morning on Saturday, September 4, 2010. He was born September 29, 1914 in San Benito, Texas. Manuel defended our country in WWII and also served proudly in the Philippines. His loving wife, Isabel, faithfully waited for his return from overseas before they married and spent the next 64 years together.

Manuel will be remembered for the efficiency he brought to the mechanical tasks in his professional career and the lawn mower tinkering he did behind the house to help friends and neighbors. The love and dedication he invested in his hobbies was admirable. He loved to proudly show the latest produce from his small gardens to visiting grandchildren. His musical ear could pick up any song, which he easily recreated on the accordion or instrument of his own creation (a pencil and saw). He also enjoyed meeting for early morning coffee with friends. Above all, Manuel Montemayor will be remembered for the smiles he generated in all those around with his playful personality. God has blessed friends and family through Manuel. It was an honor for us to know him. He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Hilda (Lupe) Garcia.

Mr. Montemayor is survived by his wife, Isabel B. Montemayor and four children, Manuel Jr. (Rosie) of Winslow, AZ, Guadalupe “Wally” of Grand Prairie, TX, Mary Delgado (Tony), also of Grand Prairie, TX, and Mary Alice Thomas (Lee), of New Milford, CT. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, September 6, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
