SAN JUAN — Chief Warrant Officer Two Jose Luis Montenegro, Jr., 31, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Pul-E Alam, Afghanistan during his third tour of duty. Born in Brownsville, Jose Luis lived in San Juan and Clear Lake, TX, most of his life before joining the U.S. Army. He was a pilot in F Troop 1-17 Calvary Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, N.C. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding motorcycles, his dog, Adonis and the Houston Texans. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Luis Montenegro. Jose Luis is survived by his mother, Reyna Torres of San Juan; one sister, Liliana Montenegro; one niece, Jessica Chavez; three nephews, Maximiliano Mejia, Alejandro Mejia and Xavier Mejia all of Harlingen; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., today, September 17, 2012, and from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by Members of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
