JAY HARVEY MOORE, SR.
MERCEDES - Jay Harvey Moore Sr., 79, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Aurora House in Weslaco.
Mr. Moore was born in Litchfield, Illinois and was raised in the carnival business. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner in the Blue Lodge of Aransas Pass.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Jack Bernard Moore Jr.; and a son-in-law, Timothy Thornell Sr.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Jewel Moore, of Mercedes; four children, Jay Harvey (Mona) Moore Jr., of La Feria, Garry Wayne (Margie) Moore and Julie Ann Moore, both of Mercedes, Rickey Dale (Janie) Moore, of Lyford; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack B. Moore and Michael Moore, both of Zapata.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, with a 7 pm Masonic Service, Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Masonic Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
