ALAMO— On Tuesday April 3, 2012, George Alexander Morrison III peacefully departed into the presence of our Lord with his dearly loved wife and some
friends present with him. Words cannot express how deeply he was loved and how much he will be missed.

George was born October 18, 1955 in Dallas County, Texas. He was a 1973 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas in 1979. He served as a Youth/Music Director in 1976 at Savannah Baptist Church in Jefferson, Texas and then at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Center, Texas in 1979.

In 1981 he moved to South Texas and became Youth/Education Director at First Baptist Church in Los Fresnos. In 1982 he married Marilyn Rose Butler and in 1985 became Assistant Pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. He returned to First Baptist Church in Los Fresnos in 1988 where he served as Youth Minister and later as Pastor.

During this time he was a member of the Los Fresnos Volunteer Fire Department and served as an alderman on the Los Fresnos City Council. While in Los Fresnos, he served on the Executive Board of Directors for Zephyr Baptist Encampment in Sandia, Texas. After leaving Los Fresnos he became Associate Director of Missions for the Rio Grande Valley Baptist Association. At the time of his death he was serving as Pastor of First Baptist Church in Alamo.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Ferguson Morrison and his father, George Alexander Morrison, Jr.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Rose Butler Morrison and a host of true friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life today, April 6, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
