Jesus G. Munoz, 82 years, went home to the Lord Friday, March 26, 2021, at his residence in McAllen. Born in Kingsville, Jesus lived in McAllen for 51 years and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen where he served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, food pantry volunteer as well as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Knights of Columbus.
He graduated from Rivera High School and held a bachelor's degree from Texas A & I University and a master's degree from Pan American University.
Professionally he faithfully served the people of Texas for 25 years as a health inspector and administrator for the Texas Department of Health then culminated his career serving the people of McAllen as the City Health Director for 10 years where he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Adelita Figueroa Munoz of McAllen; three children, Michael (Angelica) of Ellicott City, Maryland, Jorge of Corpus Christi, Rebekah of McAllen; four grandchildren; Elizabeth, Natalie, Madeline, Michaela; a brother Enrique Munoz of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 30, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton, in Edinburg. Live streaming will be available via Zoom using meeting ID 859 7327 2202, passcode 617414. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Food Pantry of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and/or The Alzheimer's Association.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
