Concepción Minerva Negrete, 90, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Amara Hospice surrounded by her loving family.
Concepción was born in Agua Nueva, Texas on November 15, 1932. She was a devoted wife and mother. For over 40 years she lovingly and tirelessly supported all her children and grandchildren's school and extracurricular activities. As a community member, she was dedicated to church service and was involved with many church ministries such as the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, The Altar Society and The Legion of Mary. She was also a Eucharistic Minister. She was a faithful servant to the end.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Negrete, Sr.; her parents, Santiago and Filomena Olivarez; and her five brothers, Diego, Esteban, Santiago Jr., Manuel, and Rogelio Olivarez, and sister-in-law, Genoveva Olivarez.
Concepción is survived by six children, Mérida, Ismael, Veronica, Maricruz, Juan Jr. (Dianira), and Laura Negrete; six grandchildren, Rebekah (Cody), Clyde III (Tiffany), Christopher, Joaquin, Gabriel, and Israel; four great-grandchildren, Clyde IV, Landon, Finn and Ryan; seven siblings, Alicia Ramos (Alan+), Angelina Garcia (Enemorio+), Fermin Olivarez (Linda), Fidela Alvarez (Alonzo), Arnoldo Olivarez (Rosa), Jovita Rodriguez (Roel+), Maria Guadalupe Olivarez and Josefina Olivarez (sister-in-law).
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 W Fay St in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 1701 E Richardson Rd in Edinburg.
Pallbearers will be Ismael Negrete, Juan Negrete, Jr., Clyde Samples III, Christopher Samples, Joaquin Negrete, Gabriel Negrete. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Gandy and Israel Negrete. Accompanying her casket will be her great-grandchildren: Clyde IV and Landon Samples and Finn and Ryan Gandy.
