DOMINGA OBREGON
EDINBURG - Dominga Obregon, 80, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at her residence in Edinburg.
Minga, as she was better known, began working at the Citrus Movie Theater at a very young age. She eventually advanced as manager for the Citrus, Century and Capri theaters at a time when Edinburg was known as the theater capital of the valley. She loved shopping, classic country music, and cake.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Bernarda Obregon, her sisters, Francisca (Deacon Silvestre, Sr.) Garcia, Sr. Bernard Mary Obregon R.S.M. and Mary (Gus) Sanchez .
Ms. Obregon is survived by her two children, Gerald Matthew Obregon and Lisa Amanda (Nigel) Cohen; two grandchildren, Brianna Marie and Brandon Obregon, seven siblings, Sr. Olivia Obregon, R.S.M., Ana (Joe) Perez, Martha (Mickey) French, Zita O. (Ron) Colvin, Eligio (Irene) Obregon, Gilbert (Nancy) Obregon and Robert (Ofelia) Obregon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will take place at 12 noon, Friday, September 17, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
