LUIS OCHOA PEÑITAS - Luis Ochoa, 82, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at his daughter's residence in Mission. He was born in El Rancho El Estero, Municipio de Reynosa Diaz, Tamaulipas, Mexico and had lived in Peñitas most of his life. Luis traveled to many states along with his family, where he worked as a migrant farm worker and instilled strong work ethics and the value of life to his children. He was a strong, hard-working, positive and happy man who enjoyed talking to people and listening to live music. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all and was extremely proud of his 14 children, 57 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Agraciana Ochoa; a sister, Hortencia Ochoa; a brother, Amando Ochoa; and a sister-in-law, Adelaida Garza Sierra. Mr. Ochoa is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margarita G. Ochoa, of Peñitas; eight sons, Alonzo (Luz) Ochoa, of Grand Haven, Michigan, Miguel (Shannon) Ochoa, Jaime (Yolanda) Ochoa, both of West Olive, Michigan, Luis (Marissa) Ochoa, Jr., of Fennville, Michigan, Javier (Maricruz) Ochoa, of Holland, Michigan, Arnoldo (Cecilia) Ochoa, Eduardo (Sonia) Ochoa, both of Mission, Jose Alejandro (Diana) Ochoa, of Peñitas; six daughters, Gracie (Robert) Goodwin, Pat (Victor) Campos, Alma (Marco) Lara, all of Mission, Graciela (Alejandro Correa) Garcia, of Fennville, Michigan, Margarita (Ladislao) Caldera, of West Olive, Michigan, Aracely (Fernando Rocha) Gonzales, of McAllen; 57 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guillermo (Chelo) Ochoa, of Mission and Miguel (Yolanda) Ochoa, of Monterrey, Mexico. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, August 30, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Peñitas. Interment will follow at Peñitas City Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
