ALVARO ENRIQUE "VARO" OLIVAREZ

McALLEN - Alvaro Enrique "Varo" Olivarez, 59, died Friday, August 7, 2009 at Mission Regional Medical Center and is now resting in peace with his beloved wife who passed away five months ago.

Born in McAllen, Mr. Olivarez had lived there all of his life and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen. He was very devoted to his construction company where he was employed since the age of 18, and later became co-owner of Enrique Olivarez Construction in McAllen. Mr. Olivarez was a very humble person who cared about his family and was always willing to lend a helpling hand. He was proud of his children, their spouses and adored his two grandchildren and was looking forward to the arrival of Charlotte Olivarez and Taylor Woods. Mr. Olivarez was a patriarch, not only to his immediate family but to his siblings and their families. He lived his life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ida Bravo Olivarez; and his parents, Enrique and Enriqueta Olivarez.

Mr. Olivarez is survived by two sons, Ramsey (Rebecca) Olivarez of McAllen, Alexis Olivarez of Mission; a daughter, Anyssa (Delyle) Woods of McAllen; two grandchildren, Jackson Olivarez and Savanna Woods; two brothers, Aniel (Edna) OLivarez of McAllen, Enrique (Jennifer) Olivarez, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three sisters, Belinda (Eloy Lopez) Muniz, Belma (Pedro Garcia) Delgado and Sylvia (Ramiro) Hinojosa, all of McAllen; father-in-law, Jose Bravo of San Juan; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Lupe Coronado of Mission.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, August 9, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Rene Villalon will be officiating. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers will be David Muniz, Daniel Muniz, Ramiro Hinojosa, David Bravo, Christopher Bravo and Robert Bravo. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavino Bravo and Alfredo Tijerina. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
