CRISTOBAL R. OLIVAREZ EDINBURG — Cristobal R. Olivarez, 38, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Lake Charles, LA. Born in Edinburg, Mr. Olivarez had lived there all of his life. He graduated from Edinburg North High School in 1994 where he played football and baseball. Mr. Olivarez was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a truck driver for many years and enjoyed fishing on his time off. He is preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Cantu; his father, Felix Olivarez; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Mr. Olivarez is survived by a son, Cristopher Michael Olivarez of Alamo; his wife, Lisa Chavez; his mother, Alicia Olivarez; a sister, Gloria Olivarez; a brother, Leonard (Daniela) Trevino; and three nephews, Jesse Alexander Rodriguez, Justin Lee Rodriguez, Jagger J. Rodriguez, all of Edinburg. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, February 16, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
