SILVESTRE OLIVAREZ
EDINBURG – Silvestre Olivarez, 89, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Mission, Mr. Olivarez had lived in Edinburg most of his life.
He is preceded in death by wife, Amalia Tovar Olivarez; a son, Rigoberto Sanchez and four sisters.
Mr. Olivarez is survived by his wife, Aurelia Olivarez, of Edinburg; five daughters, Yolanda (Ignacio) Rosales of Dallas, Texas, Angelita Guzman, Juanita (Xavier) Guerra, Myrtala (Ramiro) Ramirez, all of McAllen, Irma (Fidel) Vasquez, of Orange, Texas and a son, Mario (Maria Elena) Olivarez of Chicago, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Eliberto (Josefina) Olivarez of Chicago, Illinois; ten step-children; 30 step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm with a 7 p.m. prayer service, today, July 18, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 101 of Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
