Leopoldo Olmeda, III.
Edinburg – Life should be lived with a song in your heart, a skip in your step and a smile that comes from somewhere far beyond a mere expression on your face. As we heard the news of our friend, uncle, cousin, brother and son leaving the world we all feel comfortable in, we were saddened; but as we walk on we can’t help but smile as if he was still here, for he leaves that song, skip and smile within all of us to carry on.
Today, October 25, 2010 Leopoldo “Paul” Olmeda III, 36, heads to Heaven to provide us with a friendship and care greater than any other. If Paul cared and watched over us here on Earth, our lives will be abundantly blessed with his protection from up above as God welcomes him to a place where he will be waiting for each one of us. Now there will be someone watching over us and a direct line to Heaven.
Paul leaves behind his beautiful and wonderful mother, Leticia. She was God’s hands, arms and grace for him here on Earth. They loved and will continue to love each other dearly and no love was greater for Paul than theirs. He shared a true friendship with his father, Leopoldo; his father showed him how to love from the soul. He taught him how to live by example and everyone knew he was Paul’s best friend. He has one sister, Karla (Benito) Lopez who blessed him with a niece, Sara and a nephew, Matthew, who even when he was at his worst brought him a sense of peace and tears to his eyes. Your brother and uncle will miss you until he is with you again. There are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who visited and prayed relentlessly as Paul prepared himself for the next chapter of life. He also leaves behind a band of brothers, he called friends…blessed because God made you a part of his life by choice.
For all of us living without him, we smile because we were honored to be a part of his life and we will continue to look for him in the cage, as we follow his partner Raul Ramos who along with Paul envisioned a dream made reality as they co-founded the STFC (South Texas Fighting Championship), which brought and promoted professional Mixed Martial Arts to South Texas and with the help of a third partner, Xavi Deleon, his dream will go on.
Honoring him as pallbearers are Raul Ramos, Xavi Deleon, Ricardo Guerrero, Rick Maldonado, Benito Lopez, Jesse Olmeda, Julio Olmeda, Erick Olmeda and Marcos Olmeda.
Special thanks to his cousins Monica Lopez and Julio Olmeda and the nurses and doctors who helped care for him until the end. The Olmeda Family would like to sincerely thank all of you who visited and prayed and may God continue to bless you always.
