MARIA GUADALUPE ORONA SANCHEZ
EDINBURG – Maria Guadalupe Orona Sanchez, 104, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Maria was born on May 12, 1911 and passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her home. At the time of her death she was with her grandson, Cipriano Flores, Jr., whom she loved like a son and Aldo Guerrero whom she loved like a grandson. In spite of her 104 years her mind was sharp as a tack. She maintained her sense of humor and loved visiting and having coffee with her friends.
Born in Tivoli, TX, Ms. Sanchez had lived in Pharr most of her life and was a current resident of Edinburg.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Magdalena O. Flores; a granddaughter, Belen R. Tamez; her mother, Belen O. Ledesma; and a sister, Lidia Cabrera.
Ms. Sanchez is survived by a son, Raul (Irma) Medina of Florida; two daughters, Dolores (+Rodolfo Z.) Rosales, Dora A. Estes, both of Pharr; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. funeral service Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
