Catarino "Cato" Palacios

CATARINO "CATO" PALACIOS MERCEDES - Catarino "Cato" Palacios, 91, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at his residence in Mercedes. Born in Mexico, Mr. Palacios had lived in Mercedes all of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Ambrosia Palacios; three brothers and a sister. Cato is survived by three children, Ida (Bruce) Bush, of McAllen, Irma Palacios Cadena, of Mercedes, Mario (Cindy) Palacios, of La Feria; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, July 31, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa and America's Last Patrol Post #3 of the Rio Grande Valley. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
