WANDA LOU PALMATIER ALAMO/AUSTIN — Wanda Lou Palmatier, aged 85, passed from this world peacefully on October 17, 2014. Wanda was born September 5, 1930, in Edinburg, TX, the daughter of Irvin and Nellie Graham. Wanda thoroughly enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques. One could often find her working out in her flower beds at Alamo Country Club where she would be accompanied by a cotton-tail rabbit or a mockingbird both of which would come to her side when she walked out into the yard or frequenting antique shops across the Rio Grande Valley as she pursued yet another ‘treasure’. The same love and enthusiasm she demonstrated toward her hobbies was all encompassing for both family and friends. In 1950 Wanda married the love of her life, Clifford Laverne Palmatier. In addition to raising two children and caring for her aging parents she was employed by the PSJA schools as a cafeteria manager and later as a bookkeeper for gift fruit companies in Alamo, Texas. For the last 5 years, Wanda has resided, along with Clifford, at The Summit at Lakeway in Austin, Texas. Wanda was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Kay Palmatier, and a grandson, Christopher James Palmatier. She is survived by her sister, Audrey Owen of Menard, Texas; a brother James Graham of Boise, Idaho; her husband Clifford Palmatier; son Randy (Caro) Palmatier; granddaughter Rebekah Palmatier as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday, October 20, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. There will be a private graveside service for family members at 2 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2014, at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at 3520 Executive Center Dr. Suite 140 in Austin, TX 78731. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
