EULALIA “LALA” C. PECINA SAN JUAN – Eulalia “Lala” C. Pecina, 83, went to be with the lord on Thursday, June 4, 2015. She was born in San Manuel, Texas on February 12, 1932 to Presiliano Cano and Josefina F. Flores Cano. Mrs. Pecina adored her 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was loved and respected by many people in San Juan, where she spent most of her life with her family. Lala was a super mom and housewife, always making sure everyone was happy. In the 1970’s she inherited Pecina’s Café from her in-laws. She worked a few years, spending countless hours making the best Mexican food in town. To the less fortunate, she fed them and kept an account to pay at a later time. In the 1980’s she worked as a cashier at La Tienda Amarilla, a local grocery and dry goods store. She really enjoyed working there. Lala had a very special smile and personality that just captured your heart. We will truly miss her pan de polvo and funny stories that she would offer you when you came by to visit over a cup of coffee. Lala will be greatly missed by family and friends, just know that we will be reunited in heaven someday. We know her greatest joy today is she will once again reunite with her husband “Nacho”, who she missed and loved so much. The lord will embrace her and take her home, where there is peace. She is preceded in death by her husband, R.I. “Nacho” Pecina, Sr. Left to cherish her memories are her children she adored, Mary Lou (Joe Filoteo) Pecina, R.I. “Nacho” (Sonia Silerio) Pecina, Jr., Sandra (Richard Cardenas) Pecina, Eugenia “Jeannie” (Pedro Rodriguez) Pecina, and Mytla (Fred Sandoval) Pecina. Our sincere thanks to Legends Transitional Facility, The McAllen Heart Hospital, and Rio Grande Regional Medical staff, for all their support and efforts. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
