MCALLEN - Ernesto Pena, Jr., 71, died, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Falfurrias, Texas, Mr. Pena was formerly of Irving, Texas and lived in McAllen since 2001. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto Sr. and Patricia Pena; a brother, Alfredo Pena; and a sister, Rosario P. Valdez.
Mr. Pena is survived by his wife, Olga M. Pena of McAllen; two children, Bianca J. Pena (Steven) Reese of Pearland, Texas and Ernesto (Jennifer Smith) Pena, III of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Ciana Renee Garcia, Brielle Skye Reese; eight siblings, Elena Hinojosa, Ismael Hernandez, Elida Gomez, Noelia (Mauro) Delgado, Alejandro (Odilia) Pena, Rolando Pena, all of Edinburg, Rene Pena and Israel (Yolanda) Pena, both of Irving, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, May 6, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 am, Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
