Rolando E. Pena, 73, entered eternal rest, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Rolando worked for Farmer Brothers Coffee Company for 27 years. He enjoyed meeting new people through his job and made many lasting friendships while servicing local restaurants and businesses. He loved to talk and was a natural at sales, which helped him win Salesman of the Year for 11 consecutive years with the company.
Rolando enjoyed starting his day with a good cup of coffee and his cigarette and especially doing so outside, taking in the morning. He was excellent at picking out a delicious watermelon with just the slap of a hand. Music and dancing were a passion for him and brought him so much joy. He loved singing and listening to the oldies and he especially loved mariachi music. He would never shy away from taking center stage when a mariachi band was present.
In his younger years, Rolando loved going dancing with his wife and compadres. He enjoyed a good game of golf with his friends and loved hunting and fishing with his three boys. In his later years, Rolando gained an interest in gambling and was always up for a night of Bingo or a trip to the "maquinitas".
Rolando enjoyed spending time with his many friends, compadres and especially his family. The mother of his children, his three sons and his grandchildren were the loves of his life. Rolando had a quick wit, a great sense of humor and a contagious smile. He was great at making you laugh even when he was being candid and direct. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto Pena and Patricia Esquivel Pena; five siblings, Ismael Hernandez, Elena Hinojosa, Fred Pena, John Pena and Elida Gomez.
