BELEN C. PEREZ EDINBURG - Belen C. Perez, 84, went to be with our Heavenly Father, Friday, January 2, 2015, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Belen loved spending time with her family and they will always remember her for sharing delicious meals and homemade tortillas. When she wasn’t cooking, “Ama” as she was fondly called, liked to watch novelas and wouldn’t miss the Dallas Cowboys games. One of our favorite questions to ask her was “Quien es la viejita más bonita?” and she would always respond with “Yo, y todos los de me casa.” Even though she was a quiet and reserved person, she warmed our hearts and we will always treasure these fond memories. She is preceded in death by her husband, Onesimo Perez, Sr.; a son, Noe G. Perez Sr.; parents, Agripina and Amado Cano; and one grandchild, Lisa Yvette Perez. Mrs. Perez is survived by her three children, Arnaldo C. (Sara) Perez of Deer Park, TX, Onesimo (Zelma) Perez, Jr. of La Porte, TX, Velma Perez of Edinburg; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Sofia (Rufino) Garza of San Juan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, January 5, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. A special thanks to the 3rd floor nursing staff at Doctors Hospital for their support and comforting words during this difficult time.
