BROWNSVILLE/MCALLEN - Bertha Perez, 83, returned home to join our Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2021, while at McAllen Heart Hospital.
Born in Brownsville Texas, Ms. Bertha Perez moved to McAllen Texas, in 1966, where she became a Cosmetology Instructor and worked for Mr. Alfred's Beauty College, and went on to San Antonio to become an Instructor for San Antonio Beauty College. While in San Antonio she obtained her LVN certificate. Subsequently, she was employed by Gentec/McKesson and Robbins Hospital Supply as an Inventory Manager. Ms. Perez then moved back to the Rio Grande Valley where she became Inventory Manager for all of M&R Jewelers in the Rio Grande Valley. She then was employed by Hidalgo County and worked at The Court House for 10+ years, and then worked in Vital Statistics and records for Hidalgo County Precinct 3 for 2 years, she also volunteered as an Elections Poll Clerk for a period of 2+yrs.
She is preceded in death by "The love of her life", Raul Moreno; her late husbands, Joe A. Canchola of Brownsville TX, Vicente Arredondo of Victoria TX; her parents, Trinidad and Jose C. Perez; and two brothers, Daniel, and Jose Perez Jr.
Ms. Perez is survived by her two loving daughters, Maria Del Carmen Canchola of San Antonio, Cynthia Ann Canchola of McAllen; three grandchildren, Carlos D. Martinez Jr., Clarissa E. Martinez, and Cynthia A. Martinez, "Lucky" Canchola" her furry companion; she had six great-grandchildren, Elijah Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez, Valentin Martinez, Carlos D. Martinez III, Isaac Rodriguez, and Ava M. Martinez; three siblings, Maria Jasso, Ricardo Perez, and Damian Perez; and her very close cousin, Leticia Perez-Garzoria.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Friday, March 12, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at BT Church, 2001 Trenton Rd in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
