Frederico "Fred" Perez, 71, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, in Edinburg, Texas.
Mr. Perez was an honest hard working man who as the oldest sibling learned to provide for his family at an early age. He cherished looking over his baby sister and three younger brothers who were the treasures of his life. That love and commitment passed over when he married Estella Luna, his loving wife of 51 years. His love grew stronger as he proudly and diligently raised his two sons and later became the grandfather of three granddaughters who he claimed were the three best gifts God had ever granted him.
Mr. Perez established strong ties and values in the community of Edinburg where he became one of the most successful farm produce distributors in South Texas and later pioneered the logistics broking business nationwide. Mr. Perez's contributions to the community continued when he served as Edinburg City Commissioner under the direction of former city Mayor and life-long friend Rudy De la Vina. Mr. Perez was well known not only in the city of Edinburg but across every city in the Rio Grande Valley where he was blessed with friendship.
Mr. Perez passion was to love and support his entire family, but aside from that he was a loyal, simple and humble man that had a love for the outdoors. It was common to find Mr. Perez fishing on the Laguna Madre, hunting white-wing dove or white-tail deer, on the golf course, or just watching the Dallas Cowboys while his BBQ pit was smoking. Some of the best advice and funniest jokes were told by Mr. Perez over a deer hunting campfire or while sitting behind the tailgate of his truck. His legacy will live on and the lives he touched and memories he created will never die.
He is preceded in death by his father Raymundo Perez Sr.; and his brother, George Cardenas.
Mr. Perez is survived by his loving spouse, Estella Perez; two sons, Jaime Perez, wife Marla Anthony Perez, wife Monica; three beautiful granddaughters, Madelyn Jade, Melanie Jewel and Allison Renee Perez, mother Felipa Perez; four siblings, Roberto Perez, Nora Gomez, Ronaldo Perez, and Ray Perez Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service followed by a rosary Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon. Friday, July 8, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
