JOSE EFRAIN PEREZ
PHARR – Jose Efrain Perez, 59, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at McAllen Heart Hospital.
Born in Pharr, Mr. Perez had lived there all of his life and was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He was employed as a teacher by Hidalgo I.S.D. and later by P-SJ-A I.S.D. Most recently he was a counselor at P-SJ-A and recently retired after 34 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carmel and Virginia Perez.
Mr. Perez is survived by his wife, Ana Maria Perez, of Pharr; three children, Virginia (Joel) Santa Maria, of Edinburg, David Perez and Bernadette Perez, both of Pharr; and a sister, Gloria (Ben) Cerda, of San Juan.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary today, March 28, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Monday, March 29, 2010, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Joe was a generous, loving and kind man who had a strong Catholic faith and led by example. He instilled these values in his children and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild, Baby Santa Maria.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
