RENE OMAR PEREZ EDINBURG - Rene Omar Perez, 65, died Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Rene Omar was born in Edinburg and lived there all of his life. He attended Edinburg High School where he graduated in 1967. Upon graduating Rene attended Pan American College in Edinburg. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Amelia Perez; a brother, Fidel Perez; and a sister, Elva Perez. Mr. Perez is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Omelia Perez; two daughters, Oneida Renee Perez, Kacilia Renee Perez; two grandchildren, Dylan Omar Diaz, Naya'Lyn Onei Goss all of Edinburg; five siblings, Eva Alicia (Alex) Rivera of Edinburg, Alfredo (Juanita) Perez, Jr. of Florida, Minerva (Larry) Whittington of Virginia, Nora Linda Perez, Marylou (Henry) Castillo both of Edinburg; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, January 21, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
