ELIZABETH HARDISON PIAZZA
PHARR – Elizabeth Hardison Piazza, 89, died Saturday, November 21, 2015, at her residence in Pharr.
Born in Hamlet, North Carolina, she had lived in Pharr since 2006. Elizabeth was an accomplished artist/muralist, interior designer, and seamstress. She was a school teacher/Principal at Central Florida Christian School in Maitland, Florida, a college professor at Audubon Commercial College in New Orleans, Louisiana, and a political activist who served as Chairman of the Republican Women’s Committee in Chicago, Illinois.
She loved traveling, cruising and visiting Mexico nearly every summer. Elizabeth enjoyed learning and was knowledgeable on many subjects. She took great pride in her knowledge of current events and loved to discuss her views and politics.
Dedicated wife, mother, sister and aunt who was loved and will be missed by all. Her life revolved around her deceased husband, Colonel Gene Piazza, her daughter, Gina Golemi, of Covington, Louisiana, her niece, Janet Mack, of West Palm Beach, Florida, who she considered as her second daughter; four grandchildren, Dominic (Michelle) Golemi of Houston, Angelo (Nicole) Golemi of Hollywood, FL, Marissa Golemi, and Miranda Golemi, both of Baton Rouge, LA; four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Golemi, Grayson Golemi, Garret Golemi (in utero), Anthony Golemi; four siblings, Lois Bishop of Palm Springs, FL, Shirley Noch of Franklin, VA, Rachel Hardison-Oliva of Pharr, Claude Thomas Hardison, Jr. of Cleveland, TN; many nieces and nephews; members of her church, Church of the King, in McAllen, Texas, and all her friends who she considered as family from the church.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a 12 noon funeral service at Church of the King in McAllen. Cremation will take place at a later date.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
