CANDELARIA S. PINA EDINBURG - Candelaria S. Pina found rest with our Lord June 23, 2013, at Memorial Herman North West Hospital in Houston, TX. Mrs. Pina was born on February 2, 1928 to Enrique Sanchez and Leocadia Paez in Alice, TX. She moved to Edinburg as a young child, where she spent the remainder of her life. Cande had a great love for children which resulted in many years of babysitting the neighborhood kids, and numerous deep, meaningful relationships with her nieces, nephews, and neighbors. During her lifetime, Cande was blessed with 4 children of her own whom she loved unendingly. Her greatest desire in life was to have her family together and near her. A few of the many joys in her life included cooking for family, sneaking junk food into her diet, being in her home watching TV and entertaining guests. Cande was a devoted friend and a devout servant of God who looked to the Lord daily for guidance. She was also a very proud, patriotic American. Cande was a selfless person who gave everything for her family and friends and she touched many lives. She is preceded in death by her parents, Enrique Sanchez and Leocadia Paez; her brother, Enriquito Sanchez Jr.; her sisters, Sofia Vela and Ramona Gorostiza ; and children, Rosemary Pina and Jesus Pina. Candelaria is survived by her daughter, Mercy (Jose) Chavez; son, Robert Sanchez; grandchildren, Daniel (Lea) Pina, Kristina (Kyle) Lake, James Pina, Robert Sanchez II, Matthew Sanchez, and Gracie Sanchez; great-grandchild, Victoria Brandenburg-Pina; sisters, Eduarda (†Martin) Rodriguez, Maria (†Jose) Lopez, Angelita (Isidoro) Mendoza, Estella (Arnoldo) Morin, Elvira (Manuel) Rodriguez, Irene Guffey and Irma (Balde) Rodriguez; brothers, Jose (Lupita) Sanchez and Arturo (Gladys) Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. memorial service today, July 5, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jesse Garcia for all of his support and loving care for Cande.
