Ruben Noelo Ponce

RUBEN NOELO PONCE McALLEN — Ruben Noelo Ponce, 85, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Born in Rio Grande City, Ruben had lived in Monterey, CA most of his life. In 2003 Ruben and Alice retired from Federal Civil Service and moved to McAllen. He was also a veteran of the US Navy. He enjoyed golfing, barbecuing, traveling and spending time with their beautiful, loving family. Mr. Ponce was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Edinburg. Mr. Ponce is survived by his wife, Alice Ponce of McAllen; six children, Aminta (Antonio) Saenz of Edinburg, Donna (Ron) Branham of Santa Rosa, CA, Sandra (+Peter) Vaughn of Monterey, CA, Jeff (Ardella) Van Zuiden of Sonora, CA, Tracy Gamble of Dallas, TX, Kenneth Van Zuiden of Wyoming, IA; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lydia Choate, Mary Lou Champion, and Elvira Fontaine. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
