OCTAVIA G. “TAVITA” PONS

MISSION-Octavia G. “Tavita” Pons, 86, went home to our Lord Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Seasons Hospice Naperville Inpatient Center in Illinois.
Born in Mercedes, she lived in Mission most of her life. Octavia enjoyed socializing and meeting people. Those who met her knew they had a lifetime friend. Her devotional faith and discipline helped her raise three children. There was no excuse to miss church, every Wednesday and Sunday her family attended service. Her family and friends will always remember her elegant style of fashion and her smile.
Tavita is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Luis Pons; parents, Roberto and Hortencia Garza; a sister, Hortencia O. Garza; and a brother, Raul I. Garza.
Mrs. Pons is survived by three children, Melinda Harold of Aurora, IL, Orlando Pons of Irvine, CA, Lizbeth (Gregorio) Lugo of Mission, TX; three grandchildren, Stephanie Silva, Justin Lugo, Adrienne Lugo, all of Mission, TX; a brother, Robert R. Garza of Houston, TX; and sister in law, Rosa Elia Garza of Mercedes, TX.
