Dora L. Ramirez, 84, entered into eternal rest at her home on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Dora grew up and attended schools in Pharr, Texas. She had a career in retail for 27 years at McLellan Store in McAllen where she was a floor supervisor. Later, after dedicating time to raising her children, she helped run the family owned businesses – Heritage Square Apartments in Edinburg and Siete Encinos Development in Pharr. Dora was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas. Many people say there is nothing like a mother’s love, and they are right. Dora was a loving and nurturing mother who showed extraordinary love to her children and shared her strong faith with her children and grandchildren. The importance and value she put in family was evident every day of her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren at their family ranch in Zapata, Texas. Dora was the type of woman that became a mother to all who were lucky enough to have known her. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Dora is preceded in death by her father, Antonio Lopez+, mother, Angelita Lopez+; sisters, Guadalupe+ (Manuel) Cantu, Irene (Adolfo+) Benavidez+; brothers, Ramiro+ (Palmira+) Lopez and Rodolfo+(Alicia) Lopez; brother-in-law Jose Alfredo Ramirez.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Raul Roberto Ramirez; her children Sandra Yvonne (Santana) Garza of Edinburg, Rhonda Roxanne (JD) Salinas of Fair Oaks Ranch, Rina Roberta (Jaime) Gonzalez of McAllen, Raul Roberto III (Dina) Ramirez of Weslaco, Ronica Renee (Steve ) Beller of Denver, Colorado; twenty grandchildren; a sister, Ofelia (Raul) Cavazos of McAllen; her in-laws, Norma (Roberto+) Ornelas of McAllen, Rosie (Roy) Elizondo of Fair Oaks Ranch; and many nieces and nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers are her grandsons, Santana Rene Garza, Samuel Roel Garza, Saul Ruben Garza, Lewis Steve Beller, Alejandro Jose Maldonado, Raul Roberto Ramirez IV, and Honorary Pallbearers: Diego Antonio Ramirez, Arturo Aaron Alaniz, Joaquin Adan Gonzalez, Miguel Israel Ramirez and Lucas Mateo Ramirez.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Monsignor Gustavo Barrera, Father Amador Garza, and Deacon Ray Thomas for their visits and their endless spiritual support. They also would like to thank Anna Guzman, PA-C, and Presidente Home Health. A special thanks to Dr. Alberto Gutierrez and staff at Renaissance Hospice and Palliative Care, McAllen, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Thursday, at Memorial Funeral Home 208 E. Canton, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church 1108 West Hackberry Ave. in McAllen. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Road in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
