EFRAIN RAMIREZ, JR. LA GLORIA – Efrain Ramirez Jr., 80, died Saturday, September 7, 2013, at his residence in La Gloria. Mr. Ramirez was born in La Gloria and had lived there all of his life. He was a fruit inspector with the Department of Agriculture for over 30 years. He took great pride and dedicated most of his time to his ranch and loved doing carpentry. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His pride and joy was his two daughters and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Celia Garza Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez is survived by two daughters, Dalinda “Dolly” (Bobby) Carrillo, Celinda “Sally” (Larry) Hernandez, both of Pharr; seven grandchildren, Pamela Alvarez, Jackie Alvarez, Bob Carrillo, Cassie Carrillo, Michael Hernandez, Mark Hernandez and Christopher Hernandez; a great-grandson, Ayden James Calvillo; five siblings, Emma Munoz, of Pharr, Ella Pena, of Edinburg, Maya Garza, of Dallas, Renato Ramirez, of Mission, Imelda Saldivar, of Harlingen; and several nieces and nephews. A rosary was held Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 4 p.m. today, September 9, 2013, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in La Puerta/Rio Grande City. Interment will follow at Rio Grande City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Hernandez, Mark Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Juan Lino Ramirez, Javier Ramirez and David Calvillo. Honorary pallbearers will be Roberto Carrillo Jr., Roy Munoz and Ayden James Calvillo. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
