Mary "Maruca" Ramirez, 85, entered eternal rest Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at The Heights of Alamo.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ruben "Bozo" Ramirez, the love of her life until her last breath. They met in the seventh grade and were together since. Mary is a 1955 graduate of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. Mary worked in retail and owned a business. During her years at JC Penney, she established credit for people from Mexico.
Mary loved her family & friends dearly. She especially enjoyed card nights with her friends, Las Vegas trips, and road-trips to the "maquinitas" with her partner in crime "Cruzita." Everyone will remember her for the tasty tamales that she would make every holiday season.
Maruca is survived by her daughter, Lilly Ann Ramirez of San Juan; two sons, Tom (Blanca) Ramirez of Austin, Ruben (Nelly) Ramirez of McAllen; and six grandchildren: Alexis Marie Ramirez, Nicole Marie Ramirez, Michael David Ramirez, Eric Marcus Ramirez, Christian Ramirez, and Bianca Nicole Ramirez. Faithfully by her side was Pixie, the family dog.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday February 23, 2022, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Memorial Funeral Home for their services and all who kept us in their prayers during these difficult times. A special thanks to Zaida Astello & Mari Campos for being a loving companion to our mother/grandmother.
