MATILDE RAMIREZ PENITAS — Matilde Ramirez, 85, went home to be with our Lord Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 11:20 p.m., in Edinburg. Born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Matilde had lived in Penitas most of her life. Matilde was a strong Christian woman who was loved by family and friends. Matilde loved to garden, make corn tortillas and her empanadas were the best. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always made everyone feel beautiful and loved. Matilde was a giving person who helped everyone she could. She will be missed but not forgotten. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leobardo Ramirez. Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her daughter, Dolores (Jorge) Canales of College Station; two granddaughters, Jaleina Aboud of McAllen, Arlene Danielle Litton of New Braunfels; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Aboud, Jace Aboud, Layla Aboud, Sienna Litton , Saige Litton, and Hazel Litton; four sisters, Blasita Dubernay, Albina (Emeterio) Mata, Ofelia (Martin) Gonzalez, Elida Martinez; and one brother, Atanacio Ramirez. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Monday, August 31, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
