RODRIGO “ROD” RAMON, JR.
MCALLEN – Rodrigo “Rod” Ramon, Jr, 76, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in Edinburg, Rod had lived in McAllen most of his life. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam Era. Rod worked for the Texas Department of Health for 43 years and had a Master’s Degree as an LMSW – AP and Administration. Rod loved his ranch and hunting. He also enjoyed watching cowboy movies and collecting comic books. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister.
Rod is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rosa M. De Leon of McAllen; two sons, Rodrigo (Dinorah) Ramon, III of Harlingen, Rolando (Karina) Ramon of Donna; three step-children, Erasmo (Maria) De Leon of Garland, Yvette (Johnny) Gaytan of Edinburg, Eliza (Leroy) Jasso of Pharr; 13 grandchildren; two brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
