RAMONA P. (RAMY) LUNA

Ramona P. (Ramy) Luna entered into eternal life on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born on October 19, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas to Zeferino and Natalia Linares Luna. 

She served 47 years to religious life with sisters of Sacred Heart in San Antonio. She graduated from The University of the Incarnate Word and attended Lady of the Lake University. She was the accountant for the sister’s community for many years. She served as a teacher and principal in different cities such as Houston, Austin, Del Rio, and at Mount Sacred Heart School for boys and girls. After retiring in 1994, she moved to Edinburg to start a new life. Ramy enjoyed listening to daily mass and reciting the rosary including prayers for the sick. She enjoyed traveling, playing games, eating out and going to Las Vegas. She enjoyed life to the fullest. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ramon and Jesus Luna; a sister-in-law and two nephews. 

Miss Luna is survived by her friend of many years, Rosa Alba Martinez who cared for her for 32 years and her six nieces as well as numerous family members. 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 216 W. 1st St. in San Juan, Texas. She will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 4607 N. Sugar Rd. in Pharr Texas.

Ramona was a woman of great faith and believed that things happened for a reason. She loved life very much but knew that one day she would go home and she heard God’s call with open hands. She will be missed by many.
