Manuela Ramos Pena, 100, entered eternal rest Sunday, March 19, 2023, at her residence in Edinburg.
Born in General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mrs. Pena had lived in Edinburg for 20 years and was formerly of Alamo. She volunteered for many years at ABC Day Care where she was affectionately known as "Grandma" by all the children.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Pena; a daughter, Elva Salinas; her parents, Julian and Juanita Ramos; six siblings, Leocadio (Aurelia) Ramos, Domingo (Jesusa) Ramos, Guadalupe (Francisca) Ramos, Irineo (Manuela) Ramos, Carmen (Patricio) Galvan, and Juliana Candida (Teofilo) Gomez.
Manuela is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Emiliano) Ybarra; a son-in-law, Pablo Salinas; five grandchildren, Juan (Ingrid) Renteria, Rebecca I. Ybarra, Marisela (Tommy) Escobedo, Araceli (Rafael) Flores, Roberto (Genecee) Renteria; seven great-grandchildren, Rebecca Castro, Rebekah Renteria, Giovanna Leal, Dorian Leal, Nicole Renteria, Julian Renteria, Carina Renteria; a great-great-grandson, Marshall James Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Pharr.
